TREEHOUSE
Germantown, New York
We designed this treehouse for two brothers and their sister. The house floats high in a Black Walnut Tree and has a railing that is an abstraction of a bird’s nest. The fabric roof suggests the spreading wings of the bird itself. The tree house is accessed through a hatch in the floor and enjoys views of the Hudson River Valley and the distant Catskill Mountains. The head of a dog, rabbit, eagle and fish are cut into selected floor joists that extend out beyond the platform.
Treehouse is featured in “Science of Play.”
