At the Zen Mountain Monastery we designed the landscape setting for the new Dragon Hall, a multi-purpose building that includes a large gathering space, lounge spaces, and art studio, meeting rooms and offices designed by Kliment Halsband Architects.  The existing entry drive was reconfigured to create a green centered on the Monastery’s Main House.  The new building is sited to merge back into the existing tree line while addressing the new green. The building’s central common extends out into the landscape forming a terrace defined by low walls.  Four rain gardens collect building and site drainage encouraging water to infiltrate the ground reducing the storm surge into the area’s sensitive watershed.  Native plants are emphasized at the rain gardens and the landscape beyond.
